OK so today I had a couple issues that I thought when I got time, I would write about. I have a limited amount of time to update or replenish this site, hell...even my thoughts!
My first problem was that I was out of coffee!!!!!!!! The other was that I had to figure out how I was going to "teach class" without my coffee! No solution there, just a very bad day! But there was a solution for the first issue of coffee. I decided to go to a little place down th street called, "The Corner Store" to get coffee and maybe something to eat. Well what started out simple became SILLY!
The coffee, was as usual LOVELY, the people were as always, pleasant, but the "loiterers" were SILLY! I was amazed that someone sitting outside of the store already knew me...in several ways! First, my boys were the skateboard meanace's of the neighborhood, second, my marital discussions seemed to be the "hot topic" from the weekend before AND I was cranky.
So this guy comes up to me and decides to tackle the issue of "homeschooling...and why he hadn't seen me down at the store in awhile" OH NO HE DIDN'T! Yes he did. Well I came up with a logical reason why I was no longer "loitering" around the corner store every day, doing nothing. I was now teaching my child how important having a job was!
Well me and my Irish temper and him with his zillion dead brain cells went at it. He told me that life was terrible because of these horrible skater kids that corrupted our streets (my kids). I had a rebuttle...Oh wait I cannot say that online. He then went on to tell me that with an attitude like mine, how could I possibly have anything worthwhile to teach my son. I continued to prove to him what exactly I was teaching my son...My son and I left, with a simple smile that said ...you fill in the blanks.
See, when my son and I reached home, we discussed people like him, people that are so clueless to the world these days that their morals, kindness and intelligence have been archived somewhere in space. HE understood! HE is 10. We also learned about History...and how far our world has come since slavery and hate, then we decided to do math...realized just how much our economy is suffering, and that a very logical reason this grumpy old hippy was in our face, was because HE did not have a job and was probably a very lonely man. We then proceeded onto art...the portrait of this guy that my son drew was FABULOUS! Two headed monstors never looked so real before!
Well here it is, what you all have been waiting for. I live in a VERY nice neighborhood, according to demographics that is. I actually grew up in this neighborhood, and most of my neighbors may remember me from when I was in diapers to when I had those "un-ruly" boyfriends coming around all the time.
From the time I was able to be married..1987, I LEFT! I then moved with my husband to "lower" San Pedro. The part of town that had nightly drive-by's, break-in's, low-life, and sleepless nights. After we had enough of the noise, gangs, grafitti, scariness and trash, we were fortunate enough to move to a better part of town...to be exact, the Street I grew up on...tell me that the whole "comes full circle" doesn't exist!
Well, there seems to be a parking issue around here, and it is getting quite annoying! We have the pleasure of NO STREET PARKING ENFORCEMENTS...meaning we can park wherever we please! It would be great if this truly was the case. We on the other hand have to listen to 80-something's tell us we are parked to close to their homes, parked too long or have ugly, in-the-way cars...Please someone save me from the "twig of laughter" I am choking on!
One neighbor down the street, decided that our truck was parked too long in front of his home. Guess what he did? He called his gardner to come over and "trim" his tree that just so happened to be right over the back of my truck. Well becoming senile does have it's disadvantages though...I went down after they were all done trimming the tree into the back of my truck, sweeping down their pathways and streets...even hosed it all nice and pretty, and I "emptied" the back of my truck right into his yard!
Why is it that people never think before they jump into war with someone? I mean it takes skillful thought to paln out a vengence strategy on someone 30 years younger than you. Common sense would tell you that the owner of that truck would not be happy at all with a pile of leaves purposely planted in his car.
